Pietro Marchese
Fulbright Scholar from NUI to USF

Pietro was a traveling scholar and Fulbright recipient. He has a strong background in marine natural products and mycology.  During his time with USF, he assisted with the isolation of novel compounds of various fungal species.  He received his BA in Biological Sciences and M. Sc. in Plant Biotechnology from the University of Turin in Italy. During his time here, he defended his dissertation and graduated with a PhD from the Regenerative Medicine Institute at the National University of Ireland, Galway.

Ryan Young
Dual Appointment with NUI and USF

Ryan was a postdoctoral researcher focusing on the isolation and identification of blackfly pheromones for the monitoring and elimination of Onchocerciasis. Ryan also performed research in Marine Natural Products Drug Discovery and Antarctic Marine Chemical Ecology. He received his PhD under the direction of Dr. Mike Davies-Coleman at Rhodes University in South Africa.

Laurent was a postdoctoral scholar working with Medicines for Malaria Ventures. His research focused on the discovery of novel antimalarial products from marine organisms such as sponges, tunicates and fungi. Laurent received  his PhD in Marine Natural Products Chemistry at the National Museum of Natural History in Paris and did postdoctoral research with Dr. Phil Cruz at the University of California at Santa Cruz.

Carrie Waterman
Bayer CropScience

Carrie was a postdoctoral scholar working with Medicines for Malaria Ventures conducting research on the isolation and identification of new antimalarial compounds from natural sources. She received her PhD from University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and went on to be a Fulbright Scholar in Kenya and postdoctoral scholar at Rutger's University.
